synopsis: kernel BUG at mm/slab.c:2939!
last printed message: [dffc5ff0] c00146ac kernel_thread+0x44/0x60

hi,

i am Jahova. some ppl may know me. i am a 6th year RedHat/Fedora Core user, and a college student majoring in IT/CIS.

I have an iBook G4 1.25Ghz with 512 RAM that i was going to test Fedora Core 7 Beta on. unfortunately it does not boot due to a, now know, bug in what appears to be the kernel. i figured i would report this to the developers and the users here that are looking forward to FC7 on there iBooks. i know i was.

i downloaded my DVD via torrent and the MD5 checked out. it would appear that my DVD burned correctly because the "verify written data" checked out "successful". i was able to get the iBook G4 to boot up onto the DVD and came through the bootloader. there was no problems extracting the kernel (elf32 i think). the problem came about while the kernel was performing its initialization of the cache, bus, pci, ide, init, etc.

just letting someone know. thnx for reading all that if you did.

Installation was straight forward and booting too.nice one:)

maybe it was the torrent-thingy that was bad.

they may have got this fixed by now. my problem was something in the kernel. that is great that AE works now though or detection.
