I finally managed to install FD6 ... to do this i had to remove my nvidia graphics card (fx5200) ... leaving it in caused a kernel sync error ..

Does anyone know what causes this ..... the card is now installed , but im using the built in graphics .. every time i plug the monitor into the nvidia card ...linux wont boot ... i get a kernel sync error and the system hangs ..
will installing nvidia drivers make a difference to linux booting up ??? ie.. actually allow me to boot linux with the card in use ??

Hope you guys can help me

Thanks

You could try installing the new nvidia drivers from atrpms, I think they are up to 9746 now. I had to install them to get the s-video port working on my fx5200.

It's odd that one user has trouble with a certain video card and another doesn't, unless all the other hardware comes into play. I've been using the GeForce FX5200 AGP/128MB card for a couple years with little trouble. Matter of fact, this is a new install and kmod-nvidia installed like a champ after kernel updates. I am using the 9746 driver and kernel version is 2.6.19-1.2911.fc6
