Cyrus imap can read /etc/sasldb2 Postfix cannot

using smtpd.conf

pwcheck_method: saslauthd
mech_list: plain login cram-md5 digest-md5

cannot not running postfix in chroot but this error
no secret in database appears

using standard paths for fc6, postfix has rw to /etc/sasldb2 postconf -a says ok to cyrus

Suggestions for virtual user login welcome - come on its easy this isnt it :mad:

help wanted !

authenticating against the linux passwd? or sasl db?

default location of smtpd.conf in 64 bit is in lib64, not lib...perhaps your referencing it instead? did you install from packages?

saslauthd will cause it to auth against the linux DB. judging by your smtpd.conf you are not referencing/editing the actual smtpd.conf used.

nimbius - I fixed with some experimenting and just auxprop

Sasl is terribly vague from one distro to another, auxprop works in fc6 with virtual users in sasldb2
