Hello, i need help in installing my lexmark z617 printer. i downloaded the driver from the lexmark site but the command in the readme is not working in terminal on my FC6. the command given in the readme is

- sh z600cups-1.0-1.tar.gz.sh
but when i open the Tar.gz file in an archive the file is:
z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh

i've even tried: sh z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh, but even that doesn't work... can someone help?? :( :(

Ok, first of all install YUMEX, it will be easier for you to manage your yum packages from there.
Just type as root yum install yumex, then open it by typing yumex and search the package gutenprint there (I don't remember if I got it through there).
If it is not there search in Google gutenprint and you should find the Gutenprint project web page. Look around for downloads (try to get the latest) and hopefully your printer will be supported by that (try to check that). Once you have downloaded the package if it is compressed file, uncompress it and look for a readme or install file for installation instructions.

There is a bug in z600cups-1.0-1.tar.gz.sh.

Please search on this forum for a solution, it was posted months ago.
