Quake 3 in FC6

Hi, iv installed wine, but when i rite click the setup.exe on the cd and click open with Wine Windows Emulator, theres a lot of cpu activity bit of CD and hdd activity but nothing happens. am i doing something wrong ?

i've never tried to run quake3 via wine, but i recommend you to search the web for the quake3 pointrelease - which allows you to run quake natively, also you should give http://ioquake3.org/ a try...

Go to freshrpms (zod.freshrpms.net) and download the rpm with the binaries, then copy the pak files into the baseq3 directory and be happy to run it natively :D

ive done it through ioquake3 and i can hardly make the screen out when it loads, becomes very fussy etc... :S

I've been playing this for the last half an hour or so, very intense game, and very nice levels (those included of course). The tarball only includes about four levels (from what I could see anyway), and they're actually ver imaginative and highquality maps. Ingenious and fun to play. All around this game is now in my list of "to look for" games.

the freshrpms version has no punkbuster but be aware i cant get punkbuster to update on the
official version either so effectively it also has no punkbuster. Punkbuster sucks anyways I recommend it be always disabled and just dont play on pb servers. Pb doesnt catch cheaters, it kicks people for not running itself properly and other stupid reasons a heck of alot more than any cheaters. In fact PB is actually more annoying than a cheater so the choice is clear. :p
