hi, i'm installing fedora core 6 on my ps3 (total newbie) and i finally got to the part where it says insert the linux add-on cd (took 3.5 hours). my ps3 ejected the fedora core dvd but then it went back in again and the ps3 started to read it and then it said installation cancelled. now it has a "kboot:" prompt. do i have to start over to install fc6 or is there a command prompt that lets me insert the linux cd again? thanks in advance.

I think you *might* find that it could be a hardware compatability prob (though I'm not very knowledge able in this area). Though I can say that there is a veriant of Yellow dog Linux 5 made for the PS3 on Sony's orders with gcc etc. That may be something to look into.

Is the only that can to work because ps3 is a ppc machine. If you have problem, i think you can try yellowdog linux.

Go to fedora-ps3.com they have all the instructions for FC6 on a PS3, your problems sounds like you need to download the Sony add-on disk iso and burn it, its a seperate CD that helps to finish setting up FC for the PS3
