Hi folks...I have a Microtek ScanMaker 3600 connected to the USB port on my FC6 box, and when xsane tries to scan or preview a document the scanner acts like it starts and then stops and starts making a clicking noise.

The scanner works under WIndoze so it is not the problem...any suggestions?

I have tried it from the xsane interface and from Gimp...and from root despite the warning that tells you there can be unpredictable results when running xsane as root, and the results are the same.

Thanks

You have provided the scanner driver to sane, right?

I thought that the driver was resident because sane saw the scanner and reported it as a ScanMaker 3600, so I didn't install the driver seperatly.

check out the driver website as its more of an issue with sane or the driver than fc6..

It almost has to be an issue with the driver as shipped with Fc6, as I used the software installer to remove and reinstall both the sane backend, and the various sane front ends, and the issue still remains and is the same on two computers that are both running Fc6. I did not compile and build the driver from scratch becuause this particular scanner is reported to have been one of the first ones that was operational using sane. Has anyone actually been able lto use the Scanmaker 3600?
