Install Error: After uncompressing linux

I have downloaded the ISO's, burned them accordingly, and when I boot from disc 1, it askes whether to install with a GUI or text based.... either answer results in loading vmlinux... then when the kernel tries to boot, It just restarts the pc. I tried downloading debian, and the same thing happens... at the exact point... currently, Xp works fine. This isnt my first install of a distro, I couldnt understand why both two different distro's had the same problem?

I also tried nousb noprobe and it still dies at the kernel with an Unknown Interrupt At EIP: 00000060 C04002B1 000002B0

Hello:
Just a suggestion,
You could try adding the following to the installation boot prompt :
linux acpi=off noacpi
and see if that helps you get by the current issue
