I need to add a pci gigabit NIC to a Compaq Presario. Which make/model works well with FC6?
Please give me some recommendations. Thanks.

About any NIC should work, I bought 2 of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833338002) and a netgear gigabit switch, they work great together.

Thanks for the suggestion. Great price but the shipping is half as much as the NIC. I guess they have to make money somehow. I am going to order a couple.
Just one question. After I install it, does FC6 detect it by itself? Do I need to do anything special?

No I just disabled the onboard nic and this one worked fine.

I have been getting great results out of the Intel Pro 1000 GT adapters. I bought 6 of these recently, and got a decent deal on them. I think it was through NewEgg.com.

I'll second any of the Intel Pro1000s, very good linux support.

I posted this question in another thread, but had 0 responses on it, but to extend on the NIC question here, does anyone have any experience with Dual or Quad NIC cards with Linux? I have a couple of Tulip driver cards I've been trying to get to work with Fedora, but although I can get one NIC port working fine, the 2nd and subsequent ones just don't wanna play. Any suggestions for cards that others have used with Fedora that work well?

anything with a realtek 8169 chipset will work such as a D-Link DGE-528T or if you're near a fry's electronics, they have their own card from the airlink+ brand which they used to sell for about 7usd: http://www.airlinkplus.com/networking/agiga32pci.htm i've got loads of them and they work on all fedora or centos versions.
or the intel pro 1000 range, but they're more often onboard chipsets, not pci cards....
of course if you've got pci-express, then you can get quad pci nics, but sometimes setting them up can be a nightmare, you may have to specify the mac address or irq for each card, they're usually intel or tulip drivers from compaq.
