I my recevicing a weird message.

Hi all

i have fedora 4 installed with no GUI and every now and again i get this error:

hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: dma_intr: error=0x84 {DriveStatusError BadCRC }
ide failed opcode was: Unknown

It appears 5 times then says:

ide0: reset success.

I read somewhere that it could be the hdd going or bad format or could be something to do with the ide cable. But i have checked the hdd with the samsung hdd checker and all the tests pass. I have not reformated it yet thats going to be the last option and i havnt checked the ide cable.

What else could it be beside them.

i think the problem is solved. I had a longer ide cable connecting the hdd to the system board , I swapped the cable to a small length one and so far the machine has been on for 16hrs and theres no error

It is a good thing to occasionally unplug and replug all the connections inside your box. Many times, I've seen this correct a problem, especially HD problems. I also remove and reinsert my memory sticks.
