I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a Dell 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI card.
I am trying to use the native bcm43xx driver which if I understand correctly means I need to use fwcutter to extract the firmware files to /lib/firmware. I download the driver for my wireless card from Dell and then ran the fwcutter tool which populated the /lib/firware directory with several files
I am using FC6 and FC detects the card. When I open up network configuration it lists eth1 as wireless and inactive. Here is the output from messages
bcm43xx driver
bcm43xx: Chip ID 0x4318, rev 0x2
bcm43xx: Number of cores: 4
bcm43xx: Core 0: ID 0x800, rev 0xd, vendor 0x4243, enabled
bcm43xx: Core 1: ID 0x812, rev 0x9, vendor 0x4243, disabled
bcm43xx: Core 2: ID 0x804, rev 0xc, vendor 0x4243, enabled
bcm43xx: Core 3: ID 0x80d, rev 0x7, vendor 0x4243, enabled
bcm43xx: PHY connected
bcm43xx: Detected PHY: Version: 3, Type 2, Revision 7
bcm43xx: Detected Radio: ID: 8205017f (Manuf: 17f Ver: 2050 Rev: 8)
bcm43xx: Radio turned off
bcm43xx: Radio turned off
bcm43xx: Microcode rev 0x13f, pl 0x66 (2005-10-15)
bcm43xx: Firmware: not support for microcode rev >0x128
The last line of great interest and I figure that's why I see my network card but I don't see networks etc. Maybe I need an older version of the driver???
Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have tried searching through the forums and have done so for several weeks now but I seem to just be getting more confused.
