Can anyone help me with setting up a remote printer? I'm trying as hard as I can, but I can't find the error.
The only output I get now is:

/usr/lib/cups/backend/smb failed in OOo.

It's an HP PSC 2355p on a Windowz machine. I think I'm doing something wrong in the URI. Because the firewall of the remote computer accepts all local network connections.

The URI inserted in system-config-printer under Samba is:

smb://THUISNETWERK/192.168.2.102:5000/psc2355p

Name: Administrator
Password: <no password>

Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I ran in to the same problem. I solved it by switching the printer to the linux machine, and setting up windows to print to it. Linux is much nicer at letting others use it's stuff. If that isn't an option for you, then I'm sure someone with more experience than I will be able to help!

Thanks for the help, but I guess I'm not allowed to change it from the remote computer to my computer. But thanks for the suggestion ;)

I did it. I think the problem was Selinux :) . Turn it off and you are done :D
