Hello all. I'm attempting to run FC 6 on my Power Mac dual G5. Worked through the install issues using the "linux text" workaround and all installed just fine.

The system seems to run fine, but when I try to do a "yum update", I get a bunch of errors about "exist status 255" and failure to extract the archive. I noted on one forum that I should configure yum to use the development branch, but I couldn't tell how old that information is so haven't tried it yet. glibc fails to update and results in the system becoming unusable because the libraries get corrupted or deleted. After a reinstall and tried updating just glibc but had the same problem.

I also tried to install FC5 and had the exact same problem.

If anyone else has experienced this and can point me to what I need to correct it, I would be most gratetful.

Fixed my own problem. In case it might help anyone else, the problem turned out to be related to the system time.

For some reason, the system wasn't able to read the hardware clock and so the system time was being set to some time in 1904. For reasons I won't claim to understand, this prevented several key packages from being installed via yum, glibc among them.

Once I fixed the time and wrote it to the hardware clock, everything started working flawlessly.
