View Full Version : FC6 x64 installation is freezing after I choose the Keyboard?

I'm trying to install FC6-x64 from DVD.

The system is a Athlon64 3500+, 2gb ram, 1x250gb IDE and 3xSATA (raid).

I've tried

a) linux noapic
b) linux mem=1024M
c) linux ide=nodma (something like that, turns off DMA, can't remember off hand it's written down somewhere)

Everything loads fine, I choose my language, choose US. English keyboard, hit next, and it freezes there... I can move the mouse, I can check the other console windows and I see no real errors.

Any help for this?

Thanks,
Greg

In the motherboard bios , try enabling usb legacy or usb keyboard / usb mouse setting.

Thx for the quick reply.

I checked my BIOS and it has "Legacy USB" enabled.

I also put in just a PS/2 mouse and keyboard, it still freezes. :( Any other ideas? Should I have "PNP OS Installed?" set in my bios?

Ugh I might just try the x86 version of FC6, then fall back to FC5 :|

The last thing I see in one of the consoles is

"moving to findrootparts"

So could it be having trouble with my hard drives? I've run it with all 3 sata drives disconnected.. so just 1x250gb IDE and the CD drive plugged in.. still freezes. Any ideas?

****, is there a bug with nvidia raid controllers? Is it fixed? :|

Hi,

1. The "PNP OS Installed?" setting should make no difference , try both settings.
2. I am not aware of any bug with the nvidia controllers.

Have you run the media check to make sure the fedora install media is ok.

Media check was fine.

I gave up, went with FC5. It installed no problems. :(
