I just switched from windows XP, and unfortunately, I get no sound at all. I know this problem is commen, on this forum, but everyone else seems like they have an extra hardware or such plugged in so it didn't work. But I hvan't no clue what going on in mine. Please help.

First the simple things:
May be your setings are bad configured.
If you are using KDE, try
Kmix
If you are using Gnome, try
gnome-volme-manager
Any way, you can try:
alsamixer fron console or terminal.
Pay special atention to PCM and Front sliders
Play a while with the controls, but if this doesn't work, then get a terminal or console and type:
lspci
and see in this group for problems and solutions related with your sound hardware.
