Hi,

I have got into a real mess. :(
I tried to disable the IPv6 support, followed the instructions in a tutorial that I cant seem to find anymore.
But it will not work 100%. The Avahi and HAL daemons fails at boot.
I think I have two options.
1. Re-enable the IPv6 support.
2. Completely remove the IPv6 dependencies (ie. from HAL and avahi).

Please advice a humble noob ;)

Hello:
You probably do not need the Avahi service running for a desktop. However, you will need the haldaemon running correctly.
I would not mess with the hal settings unless, you are very comfortable playing in that area.
Did you follow this guide or something like it ?
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-fc6.html#ipv6
If, so just put things back the way they were.

Hi,
I found the guide, it was: http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-fc6.html#ipv6
And I have reversed everything back. But I still got the same result.
Avahi and HAL fails.

Hello:
Can you open a terminal and log in as root and type and post the output of :
chkconfig --list | grep 5:on

BTW, there is a very good guide here on disabling services that you do not need. http://forum.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=102853

Hello:
No problem :)
You need to go immediately here and kill most of the services you are running now. http://forum.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=102853
They are not required for your desktop . You should have not more than 15-20
When you are done post back your new :
chkconfig --list | grep 5:on
