I just bought a new Dell E1705 with:

Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz 64bit 4 Meg Cache
Nvidea Geforce 7900GS with 256 Megs Ram
2 Gigs DDR2 Ram
80Gig HD.
built in sound, built in wireless a,b,g,draft n.
bluetooth
and standard modem.

I crashed windows on accident trying to install a dual boot system. So I wiped the entire system as I am traveling right now for work and don't have the CD's I need to install Windows back on the computer.

Here's the problem. Its slow as Christmas. Is it because I didn't install the 64 bit version of FC5 or is it some setting some where. Also I can't get the 3d Desktop Beryl to work with my video card. Is it because it is to new?

I haven't use the wirelss but bluetooth seems to work fine and so does the built in gigabit ethernet card.

Now much info here to go on. What is slow ? Is every aspp slow ? Run "top" in a terminal and see how much idle time exisits, how much is 'system' or if any apps are eating your CPU alive.

Well I installed OpenSuse 10.2 64bit version and it fly's. I will have to download a Fedora Core 64bit version and see if it runs any better. The applications and everything just ran slower. It might have been a driver issue though.

IMHO the 64 bit version wont make a bit of difference.

are you using the closed-source nvidia drivers for 3d-acceleration or just the "nv" ones that come out of the box?
