I'm completely new to Fedora. Just installed Fedora 6 in a seperate hard drive. I'm really impressed with this operating system. I would like to install UT2k4 and the 99 GOTY version with all updates.
Can someone direct me to a comprehensive document, or forum, that will help me? It's gota be very step by step for me.

Check if the CD/DVD contains a linux installer script (ut2004).
su
sh <distination>/<linux-installer>.sh
exit the installer, don't hit the play button in the installer or you'll end up with permission problems.
Next thing will be to get it patched. Get it here - http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/unrealtourn2k4/Missions/ut2004megapack-linux.tar.bz2.html
save it to your desktop, then;
cd && cd Desktop
tar jxfv ut2004megapack-linux.tar.bz2
cd UT2004MegaPack
su
cp -r * /usr/local/games/ut2004
Note that if it's installed under /usr/local/games
You can find a launcher under games.

Thanks:-) The installer started, but I came to a stop when asked to mount the cd. I already had the cd in the drive.
I tried in a different terminal
[GroundHog@ip address ~]$ mount /dev/cdrom
mount: according to mtab, /dev/hda is already mounted on /media/UT2004_CD1
mount failed
Again I'm very new to linux

Ok I have tried. As you can see in the screenshot below...I seem to have the cd mounted...however the install pgm wants me to mount it.

Is it mounted? I ran the install script from the deskop folder

???
I use (more than once) always the linux installer from the DVD and get an graphical gui for the setup process (i think an loki-installer) and after that i get the current patches with all extra mods and patches etc. And all works fine. Thats 3 steps.
1. Install UT2K4
2. Download the package full patches/mods etc
3. Install patches and play

I currently have the cd version of 2k4. Maybe I'll try to find the dvd.
I'm not really bummed about it because I can still play on my Winblowz drive. But, I am just beginning with Linux and am liking what I see. I already do all my desktop stuff with F6 and will eventually will do it all :D
It's a learning curve for me. But the support is great around here.

When I put my #1 disc or any other disc in my cdrom drive, it automatically comes up and I can read the files...is there any reason why I need to do a 'mount' command during or before the installation of UT?
This is confusing to me. I can read the cd in my desktop..but the ut installer request that I mount the cd.

try copying your installer script to your home directory. then at the terminal type:
SETUP=/dev/scd0
or whatever your cd device is. eg. /dev/sr0.../dev/cdrom...etc.
Then run the installer script from your home dir. sh linux_installer.sh
