Edit: Sorry, wrong forum.
After a yum update brought me the 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6-i586 kernel, it seems that my PCMCIA capability has vanished.
When I plug in my Atheros WIFI card, dmesg tells me:
cs: pcmcia_socket0: cardbus cards are not supported.
lspcmcia says:
Socket 0 Bridge: [yenta_cardbus] (bus ID: 0000:02:04.0)
Aaaand the cardbus bridge does show up in lspci:
02:04.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller
What am I doing wrong? PCMCIA is enabled in the kernel, the devices are recognised, but the system still isn't playing ball.
