To test your 3D performance, let's try running a quick and simple GL test program, called glxgears.

Open up a console (Applications --> Accessories --> Terminal ), and type glxgears

Are there any error messages? What default frames per second are you getting ?

if you've installed the drivers from livna, the fglrx ones, make sure it's 8.29 as the latest ones do not support the r200 chip anymore. the opensource "radeon" drivers do, but provide slower performance

Heck, i run Diablo2 on a 8Mb integrated video card, and it's flawless. Radeon 9200 ought to be supported well by the kernel modules, so no real need to install other drivers.
Also i think radeon 9200 and lower are no longer supported by the ati drivers.
