Hello,
I have Problems with X on my mashine. It's a little bit difficult to explain. Often the system hang with a black screen instead of the Login-Screen. The X-Screen before run corectly and show the bootmessages and so on. Logout also doesn't work, it crashes with a scrambled screen. Shutdown is no problem. I think, I can't start X again, I can run it only once at on one bootsession.
Ubuntu works fine and I compared the Ubuntu Xorg.conf with fedoras and tried the ubuntu conf under Fedora with the same effects. So I guess, it isn't a generally Linux or X-Config Problem.

The black screen must be ternimal 1 or 2. Try Alt+F7 or Ctrl+F7 to switch to terminal 7 for X logon screen.

Thanks, but this is not the fault. The behaviour, you describe, the missing automatic switch from the console to the x screen, after GDM starts, belongs to the x86 systems and is IMHO already be fixed.
My system really totally hangs.
