Hi, I'm going to bring this question into a seperate thread as i started it an unrelated thread.
I am trying to set up Beryl to work properly with my graphics card. I'll try explain my setup but I am a little confused about what everything is....(AIGLX/GLX/DRI/MESA)
First: I'm runing FC6, up to date, on a laptop, the card is apparently an Ati Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 64Mb. I have installed the fglrx driver and have a radeon driver. (followed the guide from link below)
I have also installed Beryl using the guide from HERE (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=121119) following the AIGLX + Beryl.
Fiddling with my xorg, I first used the fglrx driver and things kind of worked, but i had no direct rendering and rain/water effects do not work, neither does the rotate cube key, it instead shows me the top face.(CRTL + ALT + UP ARROW) Also i ran atigears and got an FPS of about 250 average.
I changed the driver used to use the radeon driver, I now have direct rendering but I get a "3D driver claims not to support 0x4b"
When I startx i get a GLX not detected, assuming nvidia, nvidia not detected assuming AIGLX. I ran atigears again and this time i get an average FPS of 1880 .... that seems huge to me? I double checked it and still get this FPS rate.
I am now using the radeon driver but would like to get the rain/water effects working and fix the error about the 3D driver claiming not to support 0x4b whatever that is.
Other than this everything seems to work, I can get transparency and wobbling windows and shadows etc.
If you need any more details please let me know, and I'll try post my xorg.conf as soon as i get home tonight.
Any help would be grately appreciated.
