Hello
I am brand new to Linux and I have set up Fedora core 6 on my HP laptop, I am loving it so far.....with one exception, I can't get the right modem driver for the laptop it seems.
The laptop is an HP Pavillion ZE5570US, and I ran the scanModem shell and it gave me these results:
For cadidate modem in PCI bus: 00:08.0
Class 0703: 10b9:5457 Modem: ALi Corporation M5457 AC'97 Modem Controller
Primary PCI_id 10b9:5457
Subsystem PCI_id 103c:0850
Softmodem codec or Vendor from diagnostics:
from Archives: CXT, a Conexant type,
CXT is a generic for all CXTnumbers, with Linuxant hsfmodem software support.
Support type needed or chipset:hsfmodem

So, I go the linuxant site at http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf and downloaded a i386 RPM and it totally blew the kernel. LOL.
I did this 3 times......

And being a Linux newbie, I just reinstalled Fedora 6 each time.......

I think I am on the right track but I can't figure out what RPM I need for this modem.
My kernel version is 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6

Can somebody point me in the right direction to get the correct driver for this laptop?

Other than that......FEDORA ROCKS!

Thanks!
Tony
