i am trying to transfer mp3s from within fc6 to my ipod using amarok. my ipod is mounted properly but when i transfer the mp3s only the titles appear in my ipod. i can't play them at all. when i right click on the ipod icon i only have read permission. i try to change to read & write but i get an error message. what should i do?

have you tried gtkpod?
Sounds mostly like a permissions issue. have you tried using a super user file manager to copy the files across?
Become root in the terminal and then type nautilus and see if that works.

no luck with su and nautilus but i have installed gtkpod and it works! there is just so much disparity between different distros. in mandriva 2007 and ubuntu dapper, amarok works flawlessly for me.
thanks!

That is the strength of Windows imo. I'm sorry to have to say that but every release of any distro ends up with something being broken that worked in the previous release - Ipod on FC6 is an example, Ubuntu Edgy and dvd playing is another.

Too many fingers in the pie I guess

Hi

I have figured out the issue with Amarok and iPods on FC6. FC6 core includes ligpod 0.3x, but newer ipods (G5+) require libgpod 0.4. libgpod 0.4 is included in freshrpms, but amarok (from extras) is compiled against libgpod 0.3x.

I fixed the issue by installing libgpod and libgpod-devel from freshrpms and rebuilding the amarok src rpm from fc6 extras...

Good luck!

Is there any particular reason the last link can't be found?
