Hi,

I have a pretty old machine I've installed FC6 on. I can't get any sound at all. The machine has a SiS 5600 chipset with on-board audio. Nothing audio related shows up in lspci. I've searched and searched and can't find what driver I need to load or where I need to get it. Someone said the snd_intel8x0 driver should work. modprobe snd_intel8x0 completed successfully but still no sound.

Any help with be mondo appreciated.

thanks,

Todd

Ok...some more info. The sound chip is a soundpro/ht1869/cm8330 and I figured out I need snd-cmi8330.ko. Is it in the distro or can I get it somewhere else?

Ok. I'm answering my own problems here but maybe others will have the same problem and will find this thread. It seems that snd-cmi8330 is some old style ISA connector and you have to specify it as a parameter at boot time. Also see the following thread. http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-27337.html
At had to reboot at the end but then I was able to get sound.
