FC6 not printing anything from any program

I have tried cups, gimp-print and gutenprint, all of these are included in FC6 and not a single one of them will even print a test page, much less anything else. By the way they all claim to have completed printing with nothing coming off the printer. Maybe I should buy a new printer, exactly what printers and model numbers are guaranteed to work!!!!!!!

Not sure what I did but my printer now prints anything I send it, when I send it!!!

My printer turns itself off after 15 to 20 minutes of inactivity, that is good it is supposed to do that. What is weird is that when I turn it back on is that the computer throughs up a window that says that a new printer has been detected.
