Wow,
If there is an ATI hell, I must be in it. I have a Radeon X1600PRO (pcie) card and I thought this would be a no brainer. FC6 will not even install
Realizing I have the wrong card, what is the right card?
Please post successful FC6 installs with the ATI video card model and the driver used.
Thank you,
Janl

As far as working out of the box with the open source radeon driver you'll probably need probably a card around the r300 or so generation. The newer cards will definitely not work without installing the proprietary drivers from ATI (or the Livna repackaged version). I have a Radeon 9800 Pro which is working fine.

I have a 9200, FC6 installed fine. But I can't get the desktop effects to work :(

FC6 will not even install
Try to install in text mode. When the install boot comes up with the
boot prompt type "linux text" (plus other options if you use them).
Then check the "getting your ATI ..." thread from the HOWTO
forum.

ATi Fire GL T2 Mobility 128MB (Thinkpad T41p)
Works fine out of the box. Going to try the proprietary ones though anyway.

Everything works out of the box here as well. Wobbly windows et al
T42 with ATI 9600 - 64MB
GLXgears gives me an output of 1800+ using the radeon drivers, but only 300 using fglx drivers. Time to tweak something here.

Mine's a Diamond Stealth S120 (Radeon 9550). Everything seems to be fine until I run Firefox w/desktop effects, then FF scrolling slows to a crawl.

j_baer,
I don't know if it is related, but while reading forums before installing FC5 x86_64 on my Acer laptop with Radeon X700, I found a post that the graphical install might not start properly. The solution was when booting with the Fedora CD/DVD, at the boot prompt to type "linux vesa" and start the installation that way.
It worked for me for FC5 (didn't even try to leave the install at the default). This weekend I installed the FC6 x86_64 (clean install, not upgrade), and I did the same, entered the "linux vesa" option without even trying without it.
Give it a go, it might help.
Cheers.

hi,i want to know your x800 GTO can support 720p in YUV port? I only can work 480p under HDTV. If you can, please get me the xorg.conf.Thanks a lot.

Mine is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 (integrated in the laptop). It does not work quite easily with Beryl, but after some work configuring XGL it does work.
