I just installed FC2-T2. After some hassles with SE, I got it running ok. However, on boot kudzu is swearing that my usb printer has been removed . I tell it to do nothing.
It shows up in the hardware browser ,but if I try to configure it I get a message "usb:/dev/usb/lp0" no such device.
Any ideas? Already checked the power and the cable.

What make and model of printer are do you use? I would check /sbin/lsmod and see if the "printer" module is loaded. If it isn't, then try /sbin/modprobe printer and see if that helps.

The printer is an hp psc1210. It required quite a bit of mucking around with to get the scanning part to work on FC1, but printing worked right out of the box..
However, I have come to discover that the problem is not the printer. It seems to be something funky with the usb stuff. If I have my external usb hard drive turned off when I boot, the printer is a happy camper. If the HD is turned on, kudzu swears the printer isn't there and wants to unconfigure it.. The devices are plugged into separate ports on the system, not into a hub.
System is a AMD XP 2200 on an ASUS A7V8X mobo.
USB kernal module problem maybe?
