Hey, just a quick question. I'm dual-booting xp with fc5 which has been working great for a few months. I plan to upgrade to fc6 in the near future, and I don't care about saving all my data or whatever, so a clean cd/dvd install is fine. However I'm concerned about what this new install will do to my xp partition. Will it let me reformat my linux partition without touching my xp partition?

you can tell FC at the HDD screen to delete all linux partions and to use that space
so I think it will don`t hurt windows

Won't deleting all linux partitions also delete the partition between linux and windows? (I actually don't know for sure)

if you select "create custom layout" you can choose which partitions to format and which to leave unchanged. I was able to reformat my linux partitions without desdtroying my windows. Just make sure you know which partition was which.

if you want to be super sure in the installer when you are setting up the hdd partitions just check the check box that says review changes to file system and that will let you see what things are going to look like

Deleting the linux partition only shouldn't effect your windows partition. Also, you can check the box to review what the new partition table will look like following the reformating; this way you can make sure your windows file will remain safe. What you can also do is use a live CD with gparted and delete the partition where linux is installed. Then when installing you can just choose to use the remaining space on the drive with ease.
