I'm really trying to get away from Windoze.

I'm wondering if anyone has had luck running CoD2 using VMWare on top of FC?

I have a dual core AMD machine with 2 Gig's of RAM that could be upgraded to 4 Gig's in about a second. The video is Nvidia 7900 GT with 256mb RAM so I think it would work just fine, wouldn't lack horse power.

It would be nice if I knew it worked before doing a complete rebuild.

That's not going to work, vmware doesn't support 3d-acceleration.
You might want to check if CoD2 works with wine/cedega.
