Hi, I just bought new notebook (ACER TravelMate 2492NWLMi if you are interested) and installed Fedora Core pre6 on it and I'm trying to get anything working. I have problems with internal 5in1 card reader - when I insert SD card nothing happens - and internal camera don't even turn up. Does anybody know a solution for that, at least for the card reader? Also I wonder if my wifi has appropriate drivers or not, I can't test it since I don't have wifi conection near...

Here's the output of /sbin/lspci:

Did you ever solve this problem? I have the same ENE Technology cardreader in my notebook.

Thanks,
Joost

Sadly, nope. Seems that ENE card readers aren't supported in linux. :( However, concerning the camera - it does not work yet, but driver is in development.

It seems to work in ubuntu (other kernel buils) and that a fix exist. Anybody knows where to look for?

IMO the question is: where can I download Ubuntu's kernel source package?

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/31440 However, here it ends for me. Dissapointing that in Ubuntu it's in the kernel and not in fc6.

For me either. From the bug report it is not clear whether the bug was fixed and if (even if partly) yes, in what version of kernel release. Also, there is no link to sources or patches. If only I had a sourcepackage with appropriate patch(es) I could maybe try to make it work for Fedora as well. But so far it seems to me Ubuntu is a terrible mess and if you can get to the patches it's damn hard. I think I begin to understand Debian developers why are they complaining about *buntu. So, the easiest solution is
1. find if there's an appropriate bug filled against kernel at bugzilla.redhat.com
2a. if yes, comment it, help developers, point to the Ubuntu's bug, wait for fix
2b. if not, submit new bug report and follow 2a.

Well, I filled a bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=234428
anyone who has this problem as well, please add your comments there.

Hi all,

just a small notice for anyone interested...

I am now on F8 (since Test 2) and I have some good news... First, I have been successfully using wireless card for some time, while in F7 and previous releases it was no-go or buggy... Now it works like a charm... I think I didn't write which one is it... So it's BCM4318..

And the internal card reader now works as well. *cool*

So the last piece of my HW that does not work still is the integrated camera...

Really good news the bcm wireless now works. It did already a while with ndiswrapper in fc6 and fc7. At some moment it failed after some updates and I was so tired of it that I replaced the broadcom with a intel. It's just another mini pci wireless card. Problem over. The cardreader suddenly worked in fc7 too. However, the webcam is still death indeed. I do not know which one is in your acer but I am still patiently waiting for a working ali driver:

Hello to all.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 running Fedora 8 Fully updated.
I have just bought a digital photo device that utilises xD cards.
Unfortunately nothing happens when i insert it in the machine.
Is there something i am missing, is there something i should install?
How do these cards appear, are they mounted as CDs or USB sticks?

Thank you very much.
Regards.
