I have an issue with the Fedora installation. I downloaded disc 1 and started the install. After I chose the programs I wanted, it informed me that it would need all 3 cds to complete the installation. Bandwidth isn't cheap, but I downloaded disc 2 and crossed my fingers.

My first issue is simple. Why isn't there a [back] button in the same dialog box that tells you which cds it will need. That way a person like me who only downloaded the first one or two discs can make changes and still continue.

Second, my installation has about 2 minutes (1MB) to complete, but it wants disc 3. Is there any way to skip the last little bit and use the system as-is?

Thanks,

Will

Well, if you want to avoid downloading the third CD you can perform a minimal installation and then use up2date/yum to download just those packages you like...

No, you just can install more packages after you install Fedora. Main Menu > System Settings > Add/Remove Applications brings up a tool to configure the same package groups used in the install process. Unfortunately, it requires the CDs.

Run yum update after you install everything to update your packages. You can also run yum install <package name> to install packages.

I haven't tried the network install options. You can install Fedora with just CD1 and let the installer download the rest through http or ftp or something.

Right, but now I am at the screen that says, "Please insert disc 3". Is there any way to finish the installation without disc 3, or do I have to reboot and start over?
