I've been using FC5 and ALSA for a while now with no problems, then I decided to have a play with TeamSpeak. It worked but the other guy couldn't hear me (but could see my light go on when I spoke), so I figured its the mic.

I tried messing with the various mixers I have installed Kmix/gnome-volume-control and some other gui gadgets I didn't understand, and somewhere along the line I've managed to disable my soundcard. Sound config still sees it as SB Audigy snd_ca0106, but I don't hear anything playing. I've tried restarting artsd, rebooting and also running as root but I'm still not getting anything and I'm not sure what to do now.

Any help appreciated. I had a search of this forum and the net in general, but I haven't found anything useful yet.

I started getting desperate in my googling and there was a vaguely related thread on LinuxQuestions.org, with some very conflicting and opinionated advice (remove OSS and only use ALSA - no spurn ALSA and only use OSS)

Anyway, somewhere in the middle of it there was a post saying use KMix to disable everything on the Switches tab (I'm sure I already tried that), but either way it worked this time.

I just need to work out how to get my mic to work now

According to the Alsa site, the Audigy SE board has problems with microphone input with the snd-ca0106 driver. I am not sure which board you have, but you might check the supported, with known problems, page at Alsa. I have no microphone input. If someone has this working, please post.
