Hi,
My girlfriends Audigy 2 just died. I replaced it with an Audigy 4 (a quick google suggested it worked).
I get sound but it's very quiet. KMix says audigy 4 but the soundcard detection program still says Audigy 2. (I have tried playing with the volumes in KMix.)
Does anyone know how to set the card up properly? What to put in modprobe.conf etc. I think Fedora is still set up for the old Audigy 2.
Thanks
Simon

I don't know about the volume issue, as for the detection of the soundcard I think that system-config-soundcard says "audigy2" because the two cards have the same chipset; they also use the same alsa driver, as you can see here

Thanks for that :)
Anyone any ideas on the volume issue or comaptibility with Linux in genral?

Got the same problem in FC 6, very quiet sound... eventhough all of the mixers are at max level.

I should have made it clearer, I don't have an Audigy card, my RealTek ALC 850 is built on the motherboard but I still have problems with low sound on that too.

I have the Creative SB Audigy 4 and it is outputted to Creative SBS 560 5.1 sound system on FC 6 and it is working for me and it was also set up on FC 5.
Here's a capture of my volume control showing the settings.

Well, I solved my problem, sort of... my on-board soundcard had connections on the back and running to the front of the case, the ones on the back were really quite, but the one on the front drives the speakers really well... just how I hoped! There is obviously something connected incorrectly on the motherborad which I will have a look at when I have time, but until then... it's blasting out sounds!
