View Full Version : need some guidance with broadcom wireless (I'm almost there!)

Hi,

I've now spent two days reading these forums. I've found a lot of helpful posts, and have made progress, but I still can't get my wireless to work. Here's some specs;

Compaq R4000
Broadcom wireless 802.11 etc..
AMD 64 Athlon

Now, I've managed to get ndiswrapper installed, and I've managed to install the drivers fine from the files bcmwl5.inf and bcmwl5.sys. When I type "ndiswrapper -l" I get:

bcmwl5 driver installed, hardware present

But, when I do "dmesg | grep ndis"

I get the error saying that it requires 64-bit drivers.

So, I found the link to download the the proper driver, but when I install it and do "ndiswrapper -l", I get an error saying "Invalid driver!"

Well, I probably haven't spent as much time on this as some, but it's over 10 hours now, and I'm starting to feel some frustration.

Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Regards.

Which Fedora are you using? I have found that FC5 worked fine with my Broadcomm integrated wireless card. I don't need ndiswrapper any more.
