Bypass proxy

Hi, my isp spends its spare time blocking half the web, in windows I used a program called clerk which was a socks5 proxy finder or something to pypass the isp proxy server, is there a similar proggy I can use for linux (web proxies are no good as they are...blocked :( )?

I have similar problem, my ISP blocks many important sites; other ISPs do the same as it is directives raised by the government to block sites based on political reasons. So, no point in changing ISP; have to live with it.

How can I get around the ISP and visit and interact with sites of my interest ?
