Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron notebook that has a Intel 945 Graphics Media video card and Intel wireless 3945abg card. Recently I've installed Fedora 5 on it but encountered 2 problems.

Firstly, Fedora uses vesa driver instead; hence the max screen resolution is 800x600. I've downloaded the linux driver from Intel. I did not find any instructions in the package on how to install. Can anybody help?

Secondly, Fedora does not detect the wireless card. I've downloaded the linux driver as well and the IEEE802.11 package. But on installing the IEEE802.11 package, I have encountered error message saying that the path /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build does not exist and failed.

Thanks.

Google gives this http://www.puzzle.ch/samsung_q35.html succesful install of fedora 5 with your graphics card (among lots of other probably useful pages)

An update...

I have managed to installed the intel wireless 3945 card on Fedora (kernel 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5) but when I've upgraded to kernel 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5smp, an error stating that it could not find Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection when ipw3945d is run.

As for the Intel 945GM, I could not install successfully the driver provided by DRI, as mentioned in the above link. I also have tried using the 915resolution (Intel video BIOS hack but to no avail.

Is anybody also facing the problem? Any other way to solve it?

Thanks, amoxi
