m using RH 8.0..accidently i execute the command "rm -rf *" on main root direcotry... now i am unable to login.... via ssh or telnet

Well, it's about time you dropped that. RH8 went end-of-life the better part of 3 years ago. Lots of security advisories have happened since then...
