I had this posted in General Support, but hopefully it will get more attention here. I installed the ati drivers from livna. I had to enable fglrx in xorg.conf manually. When X comes up, the graphics are very garbled and there seem to be random transparencies. Also the desktop only looks normal on the d-sub connection. When I force Xorg to use the dvi port, the image seems to be zoomed in on the top left corner of the screen. fglrxinfo says ati technologies etc. I am running a radeon x1600 pro agp.

Thanks for any help,
Mark

Post your xorg.conf. Maybe there is something wrong there.

I was about to rip my hair out so I am taking a break from linux for a bit (had the same issues in ubuntu). Basically my xorg file just had vesa changed to fglrx and I tried forcing tmds1, but it would not show in propper resolution. When Xorg would come up on fglrx, the shell (Konsole) had super funky transparency and text would get garbled once you started typing. I was able to confirm it was on fglrx.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for the late reply, was away for a while.
