ok so im trying to get into xen. my ultimate goal is to continue using linux but have winxp or osx enabled for my girlfriend to do her graphic design on (adobe software)

to my understanding i need a VT enabled processor.
i have an amd turion 64
they now have amd turion 64 x2 (dual processor) that is
in their new virtuaization lineup.
is it possible to upgrade my laptops processor to the X2?
compaq presario v5120nr
also in 2007 there is a new lineup of quad processors coming out.
should i just wait for that?
i know my desktop is going to get one. but i dont know that it will even be available for
laptops.

any advice on 1 if its possible 2 if its sensible and 3 how difficult it would be to upgrade my processor.

one slight correction i need to make.

i just read further into the quad processor. it seems as though the quad processors for servers will be out in 2007 but for desktops they wont be out until more like 2008.

so i shall just narrow down my question to

should i get the turion 64 x2? is it that much of an improvement in speed? im not so worried about battery life.
is it easy to take out the old and put in the new?

Hey,

I'm pretty sure that you cannot change the processor in your laptop (you can check though). I would suggest getting a new desktop computer with a Core 2 Due processor (it's coming out this week), it should handle stuff like Xen easily.

Quad-core processors from Intel is coming out Q4 2006.
