Hey all, I've been browsing the forums for an answer but I'm still can't find one.

This is the problem. I have an old Compaq Proliant 1600 server that I need to get running FC5 to do intranet serving. The problem is that the mouse freezes in X. I have the server booting to init 3 and the mouse works great. As soon as I try to start any GUI, the mouse cursor goes to center and no longer responds.

I've tried looking through the xorg.conf file for any irregularities but I don't think I found any. Is there another file that GNOME or X is looking at for the mouse?

Thanx

Hello:
You may want to edit your xorg.conf file and add the option Option "HWCursor" "off" and see it that helps.

I tried adding the line in xorg.conf, the mouse still wouldn't respond. Is there a way to use the keyboard to edit some settings without the mouse, I would like to just be able to look at some settings once GNOME is up?

I was editing some file for smb when I used setup to make sure smb started when the server booted and when I got out of it, it kept echoing this to the screen:

psmouse.c: bad data from KBC - timeout

This might be the problem, anyone know what this means?
