First off fedora core1 for AMD64 worked fine had some problems with NVIDIA drivers.

I downloaded the Fedora Test 2 for AMD64 . Burnt them to CD and booted my system. It gets past the hardware detection (anaconda) and starts the GUI install. Asked for my regional setting and monitor type. But when it gets to the HDD selection it says no device was found to install onto. Its here is where it just reboots.

I have changed all the BIOS settings I can think of, and even removed the SATA HDD only using the IDE drive

My current System.

AMD Athlon64 3000+
512Mb DDR400
MSI K8T Neo-FSR
MSI FX5900
120Gb WD SATA drive
40Gb WD IDE drive

What a pain in the *ss. It sounds like you know what you're doing, so here's my 2cents about what I'd do next, boot up using FC2 installation CD - this time choosing the rescue mode - then poke around to see what the installation logs say about the IDE bus ($ dmesg | more), list the modules installed by the kernel ($ lsmod), perhaps you can use insmod to load another module that brings the IDE bus online...not much help, I admit...

the FC2 first cds usually dont boot, so im surprised it even booted for you. In every case i know of you have to boot off of the fc1 cd and then continue the install from there. Also, in my experience, WD hdds are very finiky with fedora. It took me a couple of tries before Fedora would recognize my WD hdd. I dont know why, but its just picky that way.

I ran into the same problem, but after trying around for some time I finally got my installation started. Unfortunately I cannot tell which of the following options was the critical one.

- Disabled ACPI.
Started installation with additional kernel parameter "acpi=off".

- Disabled SELinux.
Started installation with additional kernel parameter "selinux=0".

- Checked my partitions.
My machine was delivered with a pre-installed WinXP. There have been around 35 MB of unallocated space at the beginning of the harddrive, followed by one primary NTFS partition of around 200 MB. I deleted this partition.

Installation is finished now, but I am unable to boot afterwards.
Without "selinux=0" there come a lot of messages saying something got denied. Turned selinux off and now getting a kernel panic.

Using FC2test2 x86_64 on an Athlon 64 3200+, FSC D1607, Maxtor 250GB PATA.

Please post all test release questions in the Test Releases forum only thanks. Keeps the forums cleaner and more organised since these problems are different to the ones found in core/stable releases. Moved.
