ok. I had 512MB ram in two 256MB ram sticks. just bought 1Gig of ram (bought from compaq specific for my computer so i know thats not it) the added ram is recognized but
i have now lost wireless. when i try to start it it says that i need to check my cable to be
sure its plugged in. wireless works from every other computer in the house.

theorys i have had is that possibly i need an even amount of ram? not 1gig and 256mb

any other ideas?

i know the card still works fine as i am using it to write this from my winxp partition.

any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks!

I think you must to delete your current wireless configuration and install a new one from scratch.

If you need especific instructions for install, see the howto bcm43xx in this site.

why would i need to do that? the wireless card would have specific saved data about the ram that would interupt it from working?

it recognizes the card is there but thats it.

can i just remove te modules that fw-cutter created and re-run the fw-cutter on the .inf file again to get fresh files? or would i have to start from scratch.

any other ideas that may be less troublesome.

OK got it. it is just an issue where bcm43xx driver wants an even amount of ram. dont know reasoning or what not. as soon as i pulled out the extra 256mb and left the 1gig in it worked.

oh well.
