Hey gang, I know Doom3 is amd old school now, but I picked it up the other day and I installed it and stuff on ym machine, but I got a problem. It says there are some broken pipes or something. And in the game, it lags and it then reports to the terminal "miss sound updates 10 or 9". Whats going on? heres my terminal session. I start the game with this command....

I think it has to deal with this

"WARNING: ioctl SNDCTL_DSP_SETTRIGGER PCM_ENABLE_OUTPUT failed: Broken pipe"

but I have read everything everywhere, and eventhough people say... run it with oss, I do... and it still messes up. The game like freezes while im playing, and then when it unfreezes, it reports

"missed 10 sound updates"

to the terminal

eventualy it gets to the point to where i cant play the game anymore because it keeps saying..

whats going on?

Wow,
6 years later and I'm having the same problem. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04. I'm using the official ID software install.

I experience this problem when using ALSA and OSS.
