Hello

Anybody have successfully installed Fedora Core 5 with Graphics support, on IBM X236 Server?

On issuing any of the X related commands( system-config-display, X, xinit, startx etc. ) the CPU utilization goes closer to 100%, and sometimes receives a Non-Maskable Interrupt and hangs.

Also tried
X -configure
and got the error related to mouse.
but not able to start X with mouse disabled, by issuing
X -allowMouseOpenFail
with the new configuration file. But still the result is same.

If anybody found a solution to it, please help me.

Thanks

Hari

Myself got the solution. I don't know if it is right. anyhow it works fine.

Here is the solution:
Change the display driver from ATI to Generic VESA in the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf, as shown below. The commented lines are those came by default during installation.

Section "Device"
#Identifier "Card0"
#Driver "ati"
#VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc"
#BoardName "Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE]"
#BusID "PCI:1:6:0"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "vesa"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "VESA driver (generic)"
EndSection

Thanks
Hari
