For some reason the ddcprobe which comes with Fedora Core 1 is unable to detect my Monitor type.

ddcprobe returns the following

[root@HellInc root]# ddcprobe

Videocard DDC probe results
Description: Intel Corporation Brookdale-G Graphics Controller
Memory (MB): 7

Monitor DDC probe results
Monitor DDC Probe failed.

While RedHat 9 on the same monitor returns this

[root@Utopia root]# ddcprobe

Videocard DDC probe results
Description: Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. 630
Memory (MB): 16

Monitor DDC probe results
ID: LKM3280
Width (mm): 320
Height(mm): 240

Anybody got any ideas as to what is going wrong with the Fedora version of ddcprobe ?

redhat-config-xfree86 is designed to detect the monitor in the case that ddcprobe fails.
It happens to me as well, but instead, my monitor is correctly identified by redhat-config-xfree86/kudzu.

Is your monitor being identified in redhat-config-xfree86 or hwbrowser? If it is, then don't worry so much about it.

You could try installing the latest ddcprobe which is a part of package rhpl-0.126-1 from rawhide.

Here's the bugzilla entry:

At the moment I am at home and this system is at my work place. I got holidays till Tuesday  so only on Tuesday morning I can try out your suggestions. Will get back then. Thanks mhelios.
