On my list right now are the following.

Bad Religion

I've been listening to a lot of...
Elbow
Elliot Smith
Wilco
Ben Folds
...these past couple of weeks.

I'll agree with Jman, iRate is very awesome. I used it quite a bit before I started to run Fedora. I've been to lazy to install it on my new system though.

There are Fedora iRate rpms (http://www.sophrosune.org/irate/fc1/). :)

I also listen to:
Creed
Matchbox 20
Garth Brooks

I listen to all kinds of music, except rap, hip hop, and extreme metal. Everything else is fair game. :)

I have been listening to tons of ska lately. Been buying lots of out of print cds form Moon Ska. I listen to The Toasters, The Slackers, Dr. Ring-Ding, The Articles, Hepcat, The Pietasters, Easy Big Fella, Let's Go Bowling, etc. I seem to like most trad, two-tone and third wave ska bands. Plus, I listen to a lot of punk rock such as NoFx, Pennywise, Refused, Anti-Flag and such.

grommer sounds like you might have some similar music interests as me. I have been listening to NoFx for almost 10 years.

My youngest son likes AC-DC, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Rock and Roll. According to him (he is 5)
My oldest is 13 and won't admit to anything, but I do know that he asked for Smash Mouth for Christmas.
I am still trying to forget those "family road trips"

h4d - what can i say?
Not much Ug. You just gotta know, things are not always what they seem. Don't judge a book by its cover.
I know it is not very usual for someone my age to be listening to this music, but the fact is, most musicinas today do! I mean, what are you gonna influence your style on? Foo fighters, Smash Mouth, etc, etc, etc? My 10 year old cousin can play their songs!
Because we know that new rock or blues just isn't good enough, so we have to go back, way back. Popular music has evolved into some form I just can't and won't enjoy! I am yet to find a band from the past 10 years that I really like. This is why I keep listening to them, among some other genres, especially Jazz. You will find some very impressive latin jazz pianists or what not today, whose virtuosity I enjoy so much! (ie: Michel Camilo, Chick Corea, Chucho Valdez, not to mention James Carter's saxo (try to listen to his album "Jurassic Classics"!)). Now that is a mind expanding experience!

UG - some friends and I rent a shop to build race cars for ourselves. Its a nice place to "get away" at..loud music and beer are always the norm..

We dont sell anything..although some of the guy's have done a few small jobs, roll cages, backhalves, etc...for a few people...mostly personal projects though...

One has a circle track car, the other a vintage rail dragster...

We have some nice sheetmetal working tools, so some of my computer mods take place there..like my current MAC 512, and MAC 2si projects...both are becoming file servers based on Mini ITX boards, and 4-6 IDE drives...

Bargh, rap-music is evil!

Right now I'm listening to a norwegian band called "Postgirobygget", great music for enjoying myself in the sun (Yes, we have sun in Norway, and yes, it does scare the polar bears).

Usually I'll listen to anything with an acoustic guitar in it. And most music with electric ones too.

My favorite artists right now are: Ellioth Smith, Smashing Pumpkins, Manic Street Preachers, Damien Jurado, The Dandy Warhols and Sondre Lerche.

Reading Festival (http://www.readingfestival.com/) is located in the town of Reading, which is not that far west of London. You can get there from London Waterloo station. A sister festival also occurs in Leeds at the same time, with the same bands but they appear on different days.

The date of the festival is the 27th - 29th August 2004. All of the weekend camping tickets have now sold out for Reading Festival but day tickets are still available. There will be about 100,000 people there on each day.

The current lineup looks something like this:

Although the lineup is only about 50% completed. There are a number of other stages still to have lineups announced for.

Almost completely classical. I tend more towards the Russian school - Tchaikovsky, Moussorgsky, Borodin, et al. With liberal doses of Dvorak, Beethoven and Gershwin tossed in.

Also, Barber's Adagio for Strings and Elgar's Enigma Variations have been known to bring a tear to my eye - must be gettin' old...

For a change of pace, I like Leo Kotke. If you're into acoustic guitar work, I recommend Dreams and All That Stuff and My Feet Are Smiling. This guy does things with a 12-string I would never have attempted on a 6-string - and I used to play professionally (back in the Dark Ages...).

Thanks, I try my best. I'm off to Reading Festival (http://www.readingfestival.com/) (The UK's biggest Rock festival) at the end of august, the line up of which you'd probably enjoy.

Rock & Country mostly, since Rock has been around for 50 years now and I've listened to every bit of it from the start. Country since that's where many of my old rock idols have ended up. However, what I'm downloading and buying now is mainly from IUMA where unknowns are waiting to be noticed. Check out the talent of Big John Scherer, the B-Team Blues Band and the Hillbilly Hellcats.

All their plugins are open source too.

I don't really need to put up a list, because all the people that have either Pink Floyd or Nine Inch Nails in their list listen to all my faves!

Hmm this one is a toughie for me...but when I am working on the computer my playlist pretty much consists of:

Rush
Rush
Rush
And a little Rush sometimes...

Heh...any old crackers or phreaks out there still listening to Rush? Man back in the day I didn't know any hackers who didn't have Rush on constant rotation. I guess I am getting old... :-(

Well, I may be a geek, but I'm also a free speaking red neck, as such I'm listening to country, as well as some good classics such as the rat pack and frank sinatra. But at this very moment is Montgomery Gentry - You do your thing, and also some good techno is in there like prodigy, and paul oakanfield... also have some rap like 50 cent, lil jon, country consists of bands like trace adkins, toby kieth, montgomery gentry, etc.

Bargh, rap-music is evil!

Perhaps... Or perhaps it's simply a commercial product filling a niche.
Personally, I say bring on the evil :D

I listen to rap/hiphop (and none of that pop-rap):
WuTang, A Tribe Called Quest, Mobb Deep, Gravediggaz, Pharcyde, Souls of Mischeif, Mystikal, (old) Outkast, Beastie Boys, Redman, Roots, Artifacts, Royal Flush... etc.

And I also listen to metal/industrial:
NIN, RATM, White/Rob Zombie, Ministry

As well as:
Metallica, ACDC, White Stripes, Sublime.

The heavier, the better... Helps me focus when I'm working.

jtang613,
If you are near Toronto, you would have loved CFNY in its prime, c1980. I think it is now known as The Edge or something like that and is waaaay more commercial than before.
