Hi,
I cannot use "Add/Remove Software" menu item under gnome in Fedora Core 5. When I switched to console, I saw the following messages:

** (eggcups: 2638) : WARNING **: IPP request failed with status 1030. Unable to open desktop file /usr/share/appilcations/openoffice.org-1.9-write desktop for panel launcher: Error reading file '/usr/share/appilcations/openoffice.org-1.9-writepress.desktop':File not found.

And a lot of similar warnings. The program stopped without any respond. But I haven't installed openoffice. Why this? Anyone has any ideas?

I'd suggest not using the add/remove software and instead using Yumex. It does the same thing, but it's a GUI for yum.
yum -y install yumex

i prefer the bash prompt
yum install/remove <package>
