Beloved Members,
I wanted to install Fedora Core 5 on a PC with D101GGC motherboard and intel PIV-2.66 Ghz processor. Installation freezes on the first screen after the boot: prompt. I thought that the on-board ATI graphics card may have to be configured latter and tried to proceed with the text mode installation. But it also stalled there. Would anybody help me?

Have you tried the different installs?

I got a blue screen with random white characters during install, and the "ide=nodma" one helped that...

Thanks, Black_Monkey ! Sometimes we ignore the first hand resources at the corner. I have gone through the FedoraFAQ page several times, but overlooked the point you mentioned. Thanks for the pointer. I shall try it soon.

I have tried "linux ide=nodma" first. It solved the white random character problem and Anaconda started probing the system. But X.org failed to start. I tried "nofb" flag also. That also failed to start x.org. Finally, I issued "linux=nodma nofb" both at a time, but problem remains the same. Any idea, please?
