Greetings folks and Linux experts. Once again, this noob is having trouble getting a few things to work (by the way, I HATE that new GDM package and its doing the end around the no-password start-up option). The scanner is presenting a problem, mostly because there is no graphical way to install a scanner as there is for doing a printer install. I can't find documentation that is understandable to a non-tech type. Hence, I need some help in a form that is basic and can lead a non-text-entry-saavy user to successfully install a HP Scanjet 5590 scanner. If I can get this scanner and my Laserjet 3020 all-in-one working and on the network as well, then I can seriously contemplate using Linux on all of my business machines.
So, is there anyone out there with the patience to run a non-techy through the numbers to install these scanners?
